Taunton School’s aim is to challenge, nurture and inspire young people to succeed in a global community. Our School is busy, energetic, challenging, ambitious and caring. We are proud of our history and we are focused on the future.
We are a community of 1,100 pupils, with over 400 boarders, from more than 40 different countries. Our community includes over 600 staff.
Our Governors at Taunton School also come from all walks of life and backgrounds. They play a key role in planning the strategic direction of the school and overseeing the financial performance of the school. The role is a strategic one rather than operational.
We are looking to appoint a Governor, with experience in the education sector, to bring their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to make a substantial contribution to the School’s governing body and to provide support and challenge to the school’s leadership team.
Taunton School celebrates and values diversity and believes that the School will benefit from appointing a diverse workforce and governing body which represents its student and staff community by providing positive role models.
Taunton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An appointment will be subject to a number of pre-employment checks including ID and Right to Work in the UK and a successful enhanced DBS check. Please note this role does not attract a salary, however reasonable out of pocket expenses properly incurred in the performance of Governor duties will be reimbursed.
