Board Talk Breakfasts

Board TalkWith event partners, Charles Stanley and Devon Square Partners, we have  held a  number of Board Talk Breakfasts for Charity Trustees and CEO’s.   These event have been  held in Exeter, North Devon and Cornwall and wee are just finalising our calendar for 2016, which will hopefully include some Trustee Training workshops.  Check out our calendar page for details of the next event.   The Board Talk events are hosted by Michael, Richard and Jackie with guest speakers joining us to talk on a range of topics.

MICHAEL WHITE – Michael is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute’s Charity and Voluntary Sector Group and has  worked in various roles within the voluntary sector for the last 16 years.  Prior to setting up Devon Square Partners Ltd in 2002 he was Director of Finance and Resources for Arts Council England, South West.

Michael has a broad range of experience in the charity and voluntary sector and for many years was one of the team of consultants working for the Charity Aid Foundation (CAF).  Much of his current work with charities and community groups is focused around enterprise and partnership development in the sector.

In addition to his consultancy work Michael obtained a City & Guilds 7302 Certificate for Teaching Adults and is a trained mentor for the sector as well as a previous winner of the Business in the Community Partnership Award for the South West.  Michael is also current chair of trustees of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen.

RICHARD MISSEN – Richard is a Branch Director within the Exeter office of Charles Stanley, our sponsor. He is an Investment Richard MissenManager and is responsible for portfolios for Private Clients, Pension funds, Family Trusts and Charities. Richard is a graduate of Exeter University, where he was awarded the prestigious Schroder’s prize for Economics, and has been working as an Investment Manager since 2001.





Jackie started her recruitment career in 1986 and became a Director of city-based recruitment firm, Cathedral Appointments in 1988.  In 1999 she was made a Fellow of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals and started specialising in the Charity sector in 2007.  Jackie was a Trustee of Devon Air Ambulance Trust for six years and has recently joined the Board of the Coldharbour Mill Museum.  In 2010 she set up Shine Charity Recruitment to enable a wider range of South West charity clients to access professional recruitment services.  She is a keen advocate of board development and an enthusiastic user of social media.
