Trustee Training Workshops
We held three Trustee Training Events in 2011 – one in Exeter, one in Taunton and one in Plymouth. We are now planning our Training events for 2012 and details of these will be added to this page in due course. The events are hosted by:-
MICHAEL WHITE – Michael is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute’s Charity and Voluntary Sector Group and has
worked in various roles within the voluntary sector for the last 16 years. Prior to setting up Devon Square Partners Ltd in 2002 he was Director of Finance and Resources for Arts Council England, South West.
Michael has a broad range of experience in the charity and voluntary sector and for many years was one of the team of consultants working for the Charity Aid Foundation (CAF). Much of his current work with charities and community groups is focused around enterprise and partnership development in the sector.
In addition to his consultancy work Michael obtained a City & Guilds 7302 Certificate for Teaching Adults and is a trained mentor for the sector as well as a previous winner of the Business in the Community Partnership Award for the South West. ANNA RODERICK – Anna is a charity law specialist. She has extensive experience of advising charities and other not-for-profit
organisations on a wide range of issues including charity incorporations, re-structures, joint venture arrangements, governance matters, charity act compliance and general legal issues. Anna has a good understanding of the environment in which charities operate today and the unique issues which they face. Over recent months, Anna has been heavily involved in advising a significant number of schools as they convert to Academy status under the new Academies Act 2010. Anna studied law with French at the University of Birmingham and then trained at Anthony Collins Solicitors in Birmingham (well renowned for being the leading charity law firm in the Midlands), where she qualified in 2001. She joined Foot Anstey in 2007.

JACKIE DAWKINS -Jackie started her recruitment career in 1986 and became a Director of city-based recruitment firm, Cathedral Appointments in 1988. In 1999 she was made a Fellow of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals and started specialising in the Charity sector in 2007. Jackie has been a Trustee of Devon Air Ambulance Trust since 2008 and Chair since 2009. In 2010 she set up Shine Charity Recruitment to enable a wider range of South West charity clients to access professional recruitment services. She is a keen advocate of board development and an enthusiastic user of social media.
